Morocco has climbed to 22nd place worldwide in international tourist arrivals in 2025, welcoming 19.8 million visitors, according to the latest edition of the World Tourism Barometer published by the United Nations World Tourism Organization, the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts, and the Social and Solidarity Economy announced on Monday.
The achievement allowed the Kingdom to advance three positions in the global ranking within a single year. Compared with 2019, Morocco has gained 12 places, underscoring the sustained growth of its tourism sector, the ministry said in a statement.
Morocco also improved its standing in international tourism revenues, moving up from 32nd to 31st place globally in 2025, with tourism receipts reaching $14.8 billion.
According to the ministry, the performance reflects a deep transformation of the sector and the positive impact of the Tourism Roadmap launched by the government in 2023. The strategy has accelerated the development of air connectivity, diversified tourism offerings, expanded accommodation capacity, enhanced visitor experiences, and strengthened human capital.
The sector's momentum has continued into 2026. During the first quarter of the year, Morocco recorded nearly 7% growth in tourist arrivals, more than three times the global average of 2%, according to UN Tourism.
Tourism Minister Fatim-Zahra Ammor said the results validate the strategic vision of Mohammed VI and reinforce efforts to further develop the country's tourism ecosystem.
"These results confirm the relevance of the enlightened Vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI. They encourage us to further our efforts across all aspects of the tourism ecosystem in order to firmly establish Morocco as one of the world's leading tourist destinations by 2030," Ammor said.
