Morocco World Cup Defender Issa Diop Joins Ipswich from Fulham

Morocco international Issa Diop has joined newly promoted Premier League side Ipswich Town from Fulham on a four-year contract, the English club announced on Wednesday.

The 29-year-old center-back completed the move for an undisclosed fee, reported by British media to be around £8.5 million ($11.4 million), ending a four-year spell at Fulham after previously spending four seasons with West Ham United.

Diop played a key role in Morocco's run to the quarterfinals of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, starting five of the Atlas Lions' six matches. He scored a dramatic stoppage-time equalizer against the Netherlands in the Round of 32 before Morocco advanced on penalties. Their campaign ended with a 2-0 defeat to France in the quarterfinals.

Born in France, Diop represented the country at youth and Under-21 levels before switching his international allegiance to Morocco in March under FIFA eligibility rules, through his family ties. His move to Ipswich marks the third Premier League club of his career.
