Morocco's head coach, Mohamed Ouahbi, will hold a press conference on Tuesday at the conference hall of the Mohammed VI Football Complex in Salé to announce the final squad for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
In a statement published Sunday on the official website of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation, the federation said the press conference is scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
The federation had recently announced that the Atlas Lions would play three warm-up matches ahead of the World Cup finals.
Morocco will first face Burundi on May 26 at the Mohammed VI Football Complex behind closed doors. The national team will then take on Madagascar on June 2 at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium in Rabat.
The final preparation match will see Morocco face Norway on June 7 in the United States.
Morocco heads into the tournament carrying high expectations after its historic run at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, where the Atlas Lions became the first African and Arab nation ever to reach the semi-finals of the competition.
The team’s remarkable campaign included victories over Belgium, Spain and Portugal, before eventually finishing fourth in the tournament after defeats to France and Croatia.
That achievement transformed Morocco into one of the leading football powers on the African continent and raised ambitions ahead of the 2026 edition, with the national team hoping not only to repeat its success in Qatar but to go even further this time. Recent international reports and football analysts continue to describe Morocco as one of the tournament’s potential dark horses following its rapid rise on the global stage.
Morocco has also continued investing heavily in football infrastructure and development in recent years as the country prepares to co-host the 2030 FIFA World Cup alongside Spain and Portugal.
Morocco has been drawn in Group C of the 2026 FIFA World Cup alongside Brazil, Scotland and Haiti.
The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by the United States, Canada and Mexico.
