Manchester City Eye Morocco’s Azzedine Ounahi as Potential Bernardo Silva Successor

Manchester City are reportedly targeting Moroccan international Azzedine Ounahi ahead of the upcoming transfer window, leveraging their ties with Girona FC as they prepare for the anticipated departure of Portuguese star Bernardo Silva in the summer of 2026.

According to media reports, including Spanish outlet Sport citing Fichajes, City’s management views Ounahi as an ideal replacement, given his technical profile that combines teamwork, ball control, and shooting ability, traits closely aligned with Silva’s style of play.

Ounahi, 26, is under contract until the summer of 2030 and has a release clause estimated at around €20 million, making the deal financially accessible for the English club. City are reportedly considering offering a slightly higher fee to facilitate installment-based payments in line with financial regulations in England.

The growing interest comes amid Ounahi’s strong performances this season with Girona in La Liga, where he has scored five goals and provided three assists in 18 appearances, attracting attention from several European clubs.

The strong institutional ties between Manchester City and Girona, both part of the City Football Group, further boost the likelihood of a deal, especially following successful loan arrangements involving players such as Vitor Reis and Claudio Echeverri, which could help pave the way for Ounahi’s move to City in the near future.
