FIFA President Gianni Infantino has praised Morocco's performance at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, describing the Kingdom as a "passionate" football nation after the Atlas Lions became the first African team to reach the tournament's quarter-finals on two separate occasions.
In a message shared on Instagram, Infantino congratulated the Moroccan national team for a campaign that combined defensive resilience with attacking efficiency, highlighting the country's record-breaking achievements on the global stage.
"Your journey was full of beautiful moments and you gave your passionate, football-loving country so much joy," Infantino wrote.
The FIFA chief also noted that Morocco's 10 goals at the tournament marked the highest total ever scored by an African or Arab nation in a single World Cup edition, helping the Atlas Lions make history by reaching the quarter-finals for the second time.
Looking ahead, Infantino expressed enthusiasm for the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host alongside Spain and Portugal.
"As always, it was a pleasure hosting you and we look forward to your warmth in 2030," he said.
Morocco currently sits seventh in the FIFA world rankings and is expected to turn its attention to the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations as it seeks to build on its latest World Cup success.
