The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) has scheduled a hearing for October 8, 2026, at its headquarters in Lausanne, Switzerland, to examine the appeal filed by the Senegalese Football Federation (FSF) against the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) over the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) final.
In a statement released on Friday, CAS said the appeal, lodged on March 25, 2026, challenges a CAF decision that declared Senegal to have forfeited the final and awarded Morocco a 3-0 victory.
The FSF is asking CAS to overturn CAF's ruling and declare Senegal the winner of the 2025 AFCON title.
CAS said the parties did not reach an agreement to fast-track the proceedings, meaning the case will follow the tribunal's standard procedural timetable. The hearing date was set after consultation with all parties, who also agreed that the proceedings would be held behind closed doors rather than in a public hearing.
Following the hearing, the arbitration panel will begin its deliberations. CAS said it is not yet in a position to indicate when its final award will be issued, stressing that no decision will be announced on the day of the hearing.
The tribunal also warned against inaccurate information circulating about the case in some media outlets, emphasizing that only updates published through its official communication channels should be considered authoritative. Any further developments will be announced on the CAS website.
