UK Seeks to Double Trade with Morocco Within Seven Years, Minister Says

The United Kingdom is aiming to double its trade volume with Morocco over the next five to seven years, as London increasingly views the Kingdom as a key economic partner and a land of opportunity, British Minister of State for International Trade Chris Bryant said during a visit to Rabat on Tuesday.

Speaking after meetings with Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, Bryant said bilateral trade between the two countries currently amounts to approximately £4.5 billion, expressing confidence that the figure could be doubled within the coming years through deeper economic cooperation and investment.

The British official highlighted Morocco’s growing importance as a strategic partner for the United Kingdom, pointing to the broad potential for expanding collaboration across multiple sectors.

Bryant also underlined Britain's readiness to work closely with Morocco in the lead-up to major international sporting events, particularly the 2030 FIFA World Cup, which Morocco will co-host with Spain and Portugal.

His visit to Rabat coincides with the Morocco-UK Business Forum, held on June 2 and 3, bringing together government representatives and business leaders from both countries to explore new opportunities for trade and investment.

The British minister arrived in Morocco accompanied by representatives from around 50 UK companies specializing in the organization and management of major international sporting events, reflecting growing British interest in projects linked to Morocco’s preparations for the 2030 World Cup.

The visit also comes ahead of the fourth session of the Morocco–United Kingdom Association Council, a mechanism aimed at strengthening political, economic and commercial cooperation between the two countries.

The latest discussions underscore the momentum in Moroccan-British relations as both sides seek to expand trade ties and deepen strategic cooperation in the years leading up to the 2030 World Cup.
