Third shipment: Morocco receives 4 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine

Today, Morocco received the third shipment of Covid-19 vaccine containing 4 million of AstraZeneca-Oxford doses coming from the Serum Institute in India.

The shipment arrived at Casablanca airport; then, it was transported to the storage centers. It is expected to distribute this shipment, as of tomorrow, to Moroccan regions to continue the national vaccination campaign.

Morocco has secured 6 million and a half of the COVID-19 vaccine so far and has vaccinated more than 800 thousand of its citizens since the beginning of the vaccination campaign on January 28, 2021.

The first shipment of the COVID-19 vaccine Morocco received on January 22, 2021. it was from the Serum Institute in India which manufactures the UK’s AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine, composed of 2 million doses.

The second shipment arrived in Morocco on January 29, 2021, came from China composed of half a million Sinopharm COVID-19 vaccine doses.

Morocco signed an agreement with the Serum Institute in India to receive 24 million AstraZeneca-Oxford doses to continue its national campaign of vaccination against Coronavirus.

Another agreement morocco signed with Sinopharm in order to secure 60 million vaccine doses, aimed at vaccinating 80 percent of its population (25 million people).
