The estrangements between Morocco and Algeria is approaching two years, without any hopes for reconciliation between the two parties, however, the tension between the two countries has decreased in the recent period, a report by the newspaper "Nius" said.
According to the same source, many issues, most notably the Sahara issue, played an important role in the tension in relations between the two countries, and other factors have increased the tension in relations, such as the American recognition of the Moroccanness of the Sahara, a recognition that included the signing of the agreement to normalize relations between Morocco and Israel. It is the agreement that Algeria considered a threat to it.
In addition to other cases related to Algeria's accusations against Morocco of spying on it with the "Pegasus", according to the same source, and the military interventions of Moroccan forces in the Sahara against the "Polisario" front, in one of which led to the killing of 3 Algerians who were crossing the Moroccan Sahara towards Mauritania on board commercial trucks.
Other issues in the same context also contributed to an increase in the tension between Algeria and Morocco, after Algeria decided not to renew the work of the Maghreb-European gas pipeline that crosses Moroccan territory towards Spain, and Morocco was obtaining, in exchange, what it needs of gas.
But the tension, according to the newspaper "Nius", gradually began to decline, especially in recent times, especially since Morocco, through King Mohammed VI, has always kept an outstretched hand to repair the defects in the relations between the two countries, as he called more than once to turn the page of differences between the two brotherly countries and the start of negotiations to reform relations without the conditions and restrictions of the past.
King Mohammed VI’s last call on the occasion of the Throne Day, on July 29, seemed to have yielded some results, according to Nius, after he confirmed in his speech once again that Morocco will never be a source of evil for Algeria. A few days later, Algerian President Abdelmadjid Tebboune told media during his talk about the situation in Niger, that Algeria will not use force with any of its neighbors, and Morocco is considered one of Algeria's neighbors.
