The leader of ‘Polisario’, Brahim Ghali, left the hospital in Logroño, Spain, this evening, Tuesday, heading to the city of Pamplona in the north of the country, Spanish media reported.
According to the same sources, the ‘Polisario’ leader will depart from Pamplona airport towards Algiers, on board an Algerian plane tonight.
Brahim Ghali is leaving Spain, after he was heard this morning by the Spanish National Court, regarding charges brought against him by a Sahrawi association and a Sahrawi activist, who accuse him of committing crimes against human rights.
After hearing the leader of the ‘Polisario’, the court judge refused to place him under arrest at the request of the complainants, claiming that there was no evidence of his involvement in the cases of which he was accused.
The ‘Polisario’ leader had entered Spain "secretly" in order to treat his infection with the Coronavirus last April, but Moroccan intelligence revealed his entry, and revealed the involvement of Algeria and Spain in the process of his entrance.
The incident caused a severe diplomatic crisis between Madrid and Rabat, and it is very likely that the crisis will become more tense after Spain allowed Ghali to leave without trial.
