Spanish Interior Minister Fernando Grande-Marlaska on Monday praised the “excellent” cooperation between Morocco and Spain on road safety, highlighting the strength of bilateral ties across multiple sectors.
Speaking to Morocco’s state news agency MAP on the sidelines of a United Nations meeting on reducing road traffic fatalities by 2030, Marlaska said coordination between Rabat and Madrid in road safety is “excellent.” He added that the two countries maintain “outstanding” cooperation at every level, extending well beyond transport and road safety issues.
The Spanish minister also commended Morocco’s efforts to improve road safety, describing the Kingdom’s policies, the progress achieved, and the growing effectiveness of bilateral cooperation as “truly remarkable.”
The meeting, attended by Morocco’s Minister of Transport and Logistics Abdessamad Kayouh, took place alongside the UN General Assembly High-level Meeting on Road Safety, held on July 20–21 under the theme of accelerating commitments to halve road traffic deaths and injuries by 2030 in support of the Sustainable Development Goals.
