Spain expresses commitment to maintaining financial aid for Morocco to fight clandestine immigration

The Spanish government has expressed its commitment to maintaining the financial aid for Morocco, in the field of fighting clandestine immigration, in a response to a question on the part of the ‘VOX’ party in the Spanish parliament about why Spain keeps providing Morocco with financial aid to fight immigration, although the diplomatic crisis between the two countries, and Moroccan involvement in the influx of thousands of Migrants and minors on Ceuta borders.

The government of Spain has said that the council of ministers has approved financial aid for Morocco amounted to 30 million euros, but it has not granted to Morocco yet.

However, Spain is committed to granting this amount of money to Morocco in the form of bilateral cooperation in order to fight the clandestine immigration, the same source added.

The Spanish government has highlighted on several occasions the importance of Morocco in fighting clandestine immigration and keep the immigrants away from European borders.

In this regard, Coast guards of the Moroccan Royal Navy rescued in the past 48 hours makeshift boats carrying 244 would-be immigrants, the majority of them of Sub-Saharan origin, a military source said.

Some of the migrants who were in poor health conditions received the necessary health care on board the Royal Navy units.

All the migrants were brought back safe and sound to the different ports of the Kingdom and handed over to the Gendarmerie Royale for the usual procedures, according to the same source.
