Serbia on Thursday reaffirmed its support for the territorial integrity of the Kingdom of Morocco, on the sidelines of the 61st Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC), held in the Türkiye's Ankara.
During a meeting with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, Serbian National Assembly President Vladimir Orlić reaffirmed the constant support of Serbia to the principle of respect for the territorial sovereignty of States, praising the position expressed by Morocco regarding its support for the territorial integrity of Serbia.
During the meeting, held in the presence of Moroccan Ambassador to Türkiye Mohamed Ali Lazrak, Orlić praised the bilateral relations between the two countries that date back 65 years, especially between the two legislative institutions, while welcoming the level of cooperation between the two countries in several areas.
The Serbian official, who welcomed the development of Morocco in various sectors, noted the existence of a large potential to further develop bilateral cooperation, especially in the field of investment.
He then stressed the importance of strengthening parliamentary cooperation and exchange of experience and expertise at bilateral and multilateral levels.
For his part, the President of the House of Representatives, who also chairs the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union for the Mediterranean, stressed the permanent commitment of Morocco to the principle of sovereignty and territorial integrity of States, welcoming the position of Belgrade on the issue of the Moroccan Sahara.
Talbi Alami, who referred to the convergence of views of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Serbia on many regional and international issues, reviewed the various major developments that Morocco has experienced under the enlightened leadership of King Mohammed VI, and which make Morocco one of the few African countries enjoying political, economic and social stability.
In addition, the Moroccan official took the opportunity to invite his Serbian counterpart to participate in the Parliamentary Conference on Interfaith Dialogue, which will be held in Marrakech next June.
The work of the 61st Parliamentary Assembly of the BSEC began Thursday in Ankara. This two-day event is focused on the prospects and challenges of BSEC, which celebrates its 30th anniversary this year, as well as the role of national legislative institutions in promoting peace, stability and economic development.
