Scientific committee recommendation: Morocco to continue using AstraZeneca vaccine

A Moroccan scientific committee belongs to the Ministry of Health has recommended using the AstraZeneca-oxford vaccine, saying that there are no reasons to cut the use of this vaccine against Coronavirus.

According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health on Wednesday, the national scientific committee held a meeting to examine the side effects of the AstraZeneca vaccine related to blood clots.

The same source added that all the committee members confirmed that the benefits of the vaccine exceed its dangers, and there is no direct connection between the AstraZeneca vaccine and the side effects related to blood clots.

The ministry of health stressed in its statement that no death had been recorded related to the vaccine of AstraZeneca, recommending to continue using the vaccine in the national vaccination campaign against COVID-19.

Morocco has acquired 7 million AstraZeneca vaccine doses from the serum Institute of Indian so far, and the AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine is being considered the mainstay of the national campaign.

It should be noted that a number of countries around the world have decided to stop using the AstraZeneca vaccine, due to side effects related to blood clotting, although the World Health Organization negated the connection between the vaccine and blood clotting.
