Rabat to host next Morocco–GCC ministerial meeting as ties deepen

Rabat will host the 9th Joint Ministerial Meeting between Morocco and the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), a move Gulf states said reflects recognition of the kingdom’s role in strengthening cooperation and strategic partnership between the two sides.

The announcement was made during the 8th Morocco–GCC Joint Ministerial Meeting, held on Thursday by videoconference and attended by Morocco’s foreign minister Nasser Bourita, along with Jassem Mohammed Al-Budaiwi and ministers or representatives from member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council.

During the meeting, foreign ministers from the Gulf bloc praised the longstanding ties linking Morocco and GCC countries, highlighting what they described as the kingdom’s sustained efforts to strengthen Arab solidarity and advance the strategic partnership between Rabat and Gulf capitals.

Officials also commended Morocco’s diplomatic role under King Mohammed VI, saying the kingdom has worked to deepen political coordination and cooperation with Gulf states across a range of regional and international issues.

Hosting the next ministerial meeting, they said, reflects the high level of confidence Gulf countries place in Morocco’s leadership and its role in reinforcing cooperation between North Africa and the Gulf region.

The decision also underscores what both sides describe as strong bonds of partnership and brotherhood, as well as their shared commitment to maintaining regular consultation and coordination on issues of mutual interest.

Morocco and GCC countries have expanded their cooperation in recent years in areas including diplomacy, economic partnerships and regional security, within a framework aimed at strengthening political alignment and strategic collaboration between the two sides.
