Pope Francis praises Morocco for efforts made to rescue Rayan

Pope Francis praised on Sunday Morocco for all the efforts that were made by rescuers hoping to save the child Rayan who was fallen in a 32-meter deep well in the outskirt of Chefchaoun city in the north of Morocco.

The Pope as he was greeting the public in St. Peter’s Square this morning, he said that amid the world’s bad news, it was “beautiful” how Morocco’s people rallied for Rayan in a rescue operation that captured the world's attention.

Morocco’s Royal Office said on Saturday night, in a statement shortly after the boy, Rayan, was pulled out of the 32-meter (105-foot) deep well that he had died.

The statement added that King Mohammed VI offered his condolences to the parents of the child Rayan.

Rayan’s case attracted very great global attention, as many world-famous personalities, and international football teams, such as Barcelona, ​​Manchester United, and Chelsea, announced their solidarity with the child Rayan, who remained steadfast for more than 3 days without eating, as he was provided only with oxygen and water.
