Over quarter of million people vaccinated in Morocco against COVID-19

After a week from the beginning of the vaccination campaign in Morocco against COVID-19, more than a quarter of a million people have already been received the first dose of the vaccine.

According to the Moroccan Ministry of Health's official statistics, the number of people who were vaccinated until Wednesday morning is 257 thousand and 291 persons from all regions within the country.

Morocco launched a national vaccination campaign on January 28 after the king received the vaccine's first dose. The first days of the vaccination campaign targeted people in front lines to fight COVID-19, such as health workers, public authorities, and the army.

The Kingdom of Morocco has secured 2 million and a half of the COVID-19 vaccine so far. The first shipment of the vaccine arrived in Morocco was on January 22 from India, composed of 2 million AstraZeneca vaccine. The second one came from China with half a million Sinopharm vaccine.

The minister of health, Khalid Ait Taleb, said yesterday to press that Morocco is expecting to receive other shipments of the vaccine in the coming days.
