Over 2 million people have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in Morocco

The vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Morocco is still underway at an upward pace, with more than 2 million people have already been vaccinated so far.

According to the Moroccan health ministry, up to Wednesday, February 17, 2021, at 06 p.m., 2,081,013 people were vaccinated against COVID-19.

Morocco is being ranked among the first ten countries globally in terms of vaccinating people against Coronavirus according to ourworldindata.org. It is the first country in the African continent to start the campaign.

On January 28, 2021, Morocco kicked off a national campaign against COVID-19, and the king of the country, Mohamed VI, was the first man to receive the first dose.

The kingdom of Morocco has secured so far 7 million Coronavirus vaccine doses, said the Ministry of Health, adding that other vaccine shipments would arrive in the country soon.

Morocco plans to vaccinate 80 percent of its population (more than 30 million people) within five months at maximum in order to achieve herd immunity and return to normal life.
