Nearly 100 thousand Moroccans vaccinated against COVID-19

Morocco launched on Thursday, January 28, a national campaign against COVID-19. Nearly 100 thousand people have received the first dose of the vaccine so far, an official from the Moroccan Health Ministry told the local second tv channel 2M yesterday.

According to the same source, the Moroccan Health Ministry expresses its satisfaction with the vaccination campaign at the national level, which is going as it is expected.

Morocco has targeted at the beginning of the vaccination people who are in the front lines of fighting COVID-19, such as health workers, public authorities, army, and education staff.

The country plans to vaccinate gradually 25 million people who are over 18 years old during the national campaign launched last Thursday with the first dose received by King Mohamed VI.

Morocco has secured 2 and a half million COVID-19 vaccines so far, 2 million of AstraZeneca vaccine, which is being manufactured in India, and a half million Sinopharm vaccine from China.

Moroccan officials believe that the vaccination campaign to achieve mass immunization is the only solution to get out of the COVID-19 negative impacts at all levels.
