Morocco's Automobile Exports Reach Almost $9 Bln in 2021

Exports of the automotive sector reached 83.78 billion dirhams ($8.950 Bln) s at the end of December 2021, up 15.9% compared to 2020, according to the Office des Changes (exchange office).

This rise is due to the increase in sales of the construction segment (+35.2%), combined with the decline in those of the wiring (-1.9%) and the interior vehicles and seats (-3.1%), said the Office, which has published its monthly indicators of foreign trade in December.

These indicators also show that the number of exported passenger cars rose by 18.6% to 358,745 cars at the end of December 2021.

As regards sales of phosphates and derivatives, they amounted to 79.89 billion dirhams, up by 57.1% compared to the previous year. This rise follows the increase in sales of natural and chemical fertilizers (+19.05 billion dirhams) due to the price effect (+71.4%). The quantities exported of this product have, for their part, decreased by 7.1%.

Sales of textiles and leather have increased by 21.6% for the year 2021. This rise is attributable to the increase in sales of ready-made garments of 24.8% and those of hosiery of 29.5%.

Sales of the "agriculture and agribusiness" sector improved by 9.2%. A rise that is due to a simultaneous increase in sales of the food industry of 3.59 billion dirhams and those of "agriculture, forestry, hunting" of 1.97 billion dirhams.
