Morocco’s airports handled more than 12.3 million passengers during the first four months of 2026, marking a strong increase in air traffic driven mainly by international travel, according to new figures released by the National Airports Office (ONDA).
ONDA said commercial air traffic across the Kingdom reached 12,336,962 passengers by the end of April 2026, representing a 9.7 percent rise compared to the same period in 2025.
The country’s busiest hub, Mohammed V International Airport, accounted for more than 30 percent of total traffic, welcoming 3,756,740 passengers during the period, up 12.6 percent year-on-year.
Several regional airports also posted double-digit growth rates, reflecting the continued expansion of Morocco’s tourism and air transport sectors.
According to ONDA, Beni Mellal Airport recorded the strongest increase at 27.06 percent, followed by Errachidia Airport with 18.53 percent growth.
Other major airports also registered significant increases, including Rabat-Salé Airport at 13.48 percent, Tangier Ibn Battouta Airport at 11.5 percent, and Nador El Aroui Airport at 11.29 percent.
Meanwhile, Marrakech-Menara Airport recorded growth of 10.81 percent, while Agadir Al Massira Airport posted a 10.27 percent increase.
International traffic continued to dominate Morocco’s aviation sector, with airports handling 11,067,321 international passengers by the end of April, up 9.54 percent compared to the same period last year.
Domestic air traffic also recorded strong growth, rising 11.10 percent to reach 1,269,641 passengers.
Europe remained Morocco’s largest international market, accounting for more than 80 percent of total international passenger traffic. European routes posted a 9.64 percent increase year-on-year.
Other regions experienced even stronger growth rates, with passenger traffic to and from Africa rising 19.61 percent, North America 21.98 percent, the Maghreb 13.65 percent, and South America 41.24 percent.
In contrast, traffic linked to the Middle and Far East declined by 4.62 percent during the same period.
ONDA also reported that airport movements, including departures and arrivals, reached 91,128 flights by the end of April 2026, representing a 10.35 percent increase compared to the first four months of 2025.
Air freight activity also expanded significantly, with cargo traffic increasing by 11.83 percent to more than 39,515 tonnes, compared to 35,334 tonnes during the same period last year.
The latest figures reflect Morocco’s continued recovery and expansion in the aviation and tourism sectors, as the Kingdom strengthens its position as a regional air transport and travel hub connecting Europe, Africa, and the Atlantic region.
