Morocco was Turkey's second-largest fertilizer supplier in June, exporting fertilizers worth $24.4 million, according to Turkish trade data analyzed by Russia's state-run news agency RIA Novosti.
The North African kingdom ranked behind China, which supplied $25.5 million worth of fertilizers to the Turkish market during the month. Russia followed in third place with $19.9 million, ahead of Turkmenistan ($8.04 million) and Oman ($6.4 million).
The figures highlight Morocco's continued importance in the global fertilizer market, where it remains one of the world's leading producers and exporters of phosphate-based fertilizers.
The Turkish data also showed that Russia sharply increased its fertilizer exports to Turkey in June, with shipments rising more than fourfold compared with the same month last year and 1.7 times from May. Russian exports totaled $19.9 million during the month, although cumulative shipments in the first half of the year declined by 3% year-on-year to $182.3 million.
Russian exports to Turkey in June consisted mainly of mixed fertilizers valued at $18.6 million, alongside nitrogen fertilizers worth $1.4 million and potash fertilizers totaling about $13,000.
Morocco's strong position among Turkey's leading suppliers reflects the country's strategic role in global fertilizer trade, driven by its vast phosphate reserves and expanding fertilizer production capacity.
