The national vaccination campaign against COVID-19 in Morocco is still underway since January 28, 2021, and more than 1 million and around 4 thousand people have already been vaccinated so far.
According to a statement has been issued by the Ministery of Health, Khalid Ait Taleb, Morocco plans to vaccinate 80 percent of its citizens (30 million people) within five months at maximum in order to achieve herd immunity against COVID-19.
The statement has added that herd immunity would reduce the negative effects of COVID-19 and ensure a return to normal life in the country.
Given the duration that the Moroccan Ministry of Health has mentioned that to achieve herd immunity, it appears that Morocco seeks a return to normal life before the next summer.
However, Morocco needs to secure more than 60 million doses of vaccine in the coming months to achieve its goal. It has acquired 6 million and a half of COVID-19 vaccine doses so far.
The ministry of health has said that Morocco would
receive other vaccines' shipments in the coming weeks without giving any details about where they will come from.
