The COVID-19 situation in Morocco remains stable and under control, said on Sunday the coordinator of the National Center for Public Health Emergency Operations, Mouad Mrabet, adding that the vigilance thresholds have not yet been exceeded.
In a comment on the epidemiological situation, posted on LinkedIn, Mrabet stressed that for the second week, a discreet increase in cases and the weekly positivity rate was recorded, reporting 75 more cases this week compared to last week.
The weekly positivity rate is has reached 1.3% this week compared to 1% last week, he added, noting that variability between regions was observed this week ranging from 0% in Guelmim-Oued Noun to 3.5% in Casablanca-Settat.
In addition, new cases of severe Covidosis and deaths continue their downward trends during the community transmission phase in Morocco, he noted. Thus, 16 new admissions to intensive care units against 26 discharges after improvement of the clinical condition were reported for only 3 deaths, he noted.
The next two weeks will bring more visibility on the evolution of viral circulation in Morocco, said Mr. Mrabet, adding that preventive measures must be observed in risky situations (gathering places, Tarawih prayers, closed places, administrations, public transport, stadiums, etc.).
The administration of the booster dose, particularly among vulnerable population, must also continue, he underlined.
