Morocco receives second batch of Sinopharm vaccine

Morocco received on Tuesday the second batch of 500,000 doses of Chinese Coronavirus vaccine developed by Sinopharm, health ministry sources said.

This second shipment raises the doses of the Sinopharm vaccine that Morocco has received so far to 1 million. It is destined to vaccinate half a million Moroccan citizens.

The kingdom of Morocco has secured up to day 7 million Coronavirus vaccine doses after receiving two batches of AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine composed of 6 million doses between last January and early February.

According to the Ministry of Health, Morocco has ordered 66 million doses of the vaccines, under plans to inoculate 80% of the population for free (more than 30 million).

By Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, Morocco had Africa’s largest vaccinated population of 1.7 million people, a statement of the ministry of health said yesterday.

Morocco kicked off a national vaccination campaign against COVID-19 on Jan. 28, after the king, Mohamed VI, received the first dose in front of Cameras.
