Another country joins the supporters of Morocco in the case of Sahara, as Togo decided on Tuesday to open its consulate general in the city of Dakhla.
Togo's Foreign Minister Robert Dussey arrived today in Rabat, and met his Moroccan counterpart, Nasser Bourita, where he reiterated his country's support for Morocco's territorial integrity and affirmed support for the Kingdom's Autonomy Plan "which is the only credible and realistic solution to the resolution of this dispute."
According to Morocco’s news agency, MAP, Dussey announced in a joint press briefing with Bourita following bilateral talks on the sidelines of his participation in the first Ministerial Meeting of Atlantic African States, the opening of a Consulate General of his country in Dakhla.
This announcement makes Togo one of more than 20 countries that opened a diplomatic representation in the two main cities in the Sahara region, Dakhla and Laayoune.
The opening of a consulate in the Sahara region is considered an official recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
