Morocco and France will hold the 15th Morocco-France High-Level Meeting in Rabat on Thursday, bringing together senior members of both governments in a new step toward deepening the two countries' "exceptional strengthened partnership."
In a statement issued on Wednesday, Morocco's Head of Government said the meeting reflects the strategic partnership forged under the leadership of King Mohammed VI and French President Emmanuel Macron, following the renewed momentum in bilateral relations over the past two years.
The meeting coincides with the arrival in Morocco of French Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu, who is leading a delegation of 12 ministers, including Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot and Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez, in one of the largest French ministerial visits to the Kingdom in recent years.
Lecornu is scheduled to receive an official welcome in Rabat on Wednesday evening before joining Moroccan Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch on Thursday morning for a wreath-laying ceremony at the Mausoleum of the late King Mohammed V.
The two prime ministers will then hold bilateral talks before chairing the high-level intergovernmental meeting, which will bring together ministers from both countries to discuss cooperation across a range of strategic sectors.
According to Agence France-Presse (AFP), the ministerial meetings at Morocco's Ministry of Foreign Affairs will conclude with the signing of several bilateral agreements aimed at expanding cooperation between Rabat and Paris.
The gathering marks the latest milestone in the implementation of the Enhanced Exceptional Partnership launched by King Mohammed VI and President Macron following the French leader's landmark state visit to Morocco, which opened a new chapter in bilateral relations after years of diplomatic tensions.
Since then, Rabat and Paris have accelerated cooperation in areas including investment, industry, energy, security, migration, infrastructure and defense, while also strengthening political coordination on regional and international issues.
The meeting also comes against the backdrop of France's endorsement of Morocco's Autonomy Plan for the Sahara as the basis for resolving the regional dispute, a shift that has significantly reinforced strategic ties between the two countries and paved the way for expanded political and economic cooperation.
Officials from both governments are expected to use Thursday's meeting to review progress made since Macron's visit and outline new initiatives aimed at further consolidating the long-term partnership between Morocco and France.
