King Mohammed VI tells Trump US-Morocco ties have "never been as rich and fruitful"

Morocco's Mohammed VI sent a congratulatory message to Donald Trump on the occasion of the United States' Independence Day, marking the 250th anniversary of American independence.

In the message, King Mohammed VI said that "as the United States of America celebrates the 250th anniversary of its independence on July 4, it gives Me great pleasure to extend to you, on My own behalf and on behalf of the Moroccan people, My sincere best wishes and congratulations."

The monarch noted that the anniversary also commemorates 250 years of enduring relations between Rabat and Washington, stressing that Morocco, as the first country to recognize the independence of the United States, attaches great importance to this "distinguished and unique relationship."

King Mohammed VI said the two nations' deeply rooted ties, built on values of friendship and loyalty, "have never been as rich and fruitful" as during President Trump's two terms in office.

The Sovereign also recalled Trump's recognition of Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara, describing the decision as a historic move that "will remain etched in the memory of Moroccans from generation to generation."

The King further praised the current level of trade and economic relations between the two countries, saying they "have never been so strong," and expressed confidence that bilateral ties are heading toward their "best phase."

He also hailed security and military cooperation between Morocco and the United States as "a model of excellence" and "a major pillar" in protecting the citizens of both countries, defending their shared values and safeguarding their common interests.

In this regard, the Sovereign highlighted the importance of the annual African Lion military exercise hosted by Morocco, which has become one of the largest joint drills on the African continent.

King Mohammed VI concluded his message by reaffirming Morocco's unwavering commitment to further strengthening and deepening the longstanding partnership between the Moroccan and American peoples.
