The Israeli Knesset Speaker, Emir Ohana, announced on Monday that he would fly to Morocco next Wednesday on the first visit for an Israeli official in this position in the history of the bilateral relations between Rabat and Tel Aviv.
Ohana said, according to Israeli media, that he would meet his counterpart, Rashid Talbi al-Alami, and the head of the Israel-Morocco parliamentary friendship group and other Moroccan lawmakers.
The visit will be an occasion to strengthen the cooperation between the Moroccan parliament and its Israeli counterpart, and an MoU will be signed between the two parties, Israeli media pointed out.
Morocco and Israel have resumed since December 2020 full diplomatic relations in a U.S.-brokered deal that included Washington’s recognition of Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara.
Since resuming the bilateral relations, Rabat and Tel Aviv have signed a number of agreements in almost all areas, and they signed last year a defense cooperation deal.
