Israeli Defense Minister Gantz to visit Morocco next week

The Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz will pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco next week, in order to sign agreements for cooperation in the defense field, in addition to the agreement to establish a drone industry in Morocco.

According to Israeli media sources, quoting the Ministry of Defense, the expected visit of Benny Gantz to Rabat will be on November 25, and will last for two days, during which he will meet with his counterpart Abdellatif Loudiyi, in addition to Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita, in order to discuss and sign bilateral agreements between Israel and Morocco, concerns the defense side in the first place.

This will be the first visit of an Israeli Defense Minister to Morocco, and the second by an Israeli official since the resumption of bilateral relations between Morocco and Israel in December 2020, after the first visit by Israeli Foreign Minister Yair Lapid last August.

The Moroccan Foreign Minister, Nasser Bourita, revealed weeks ago, during a meeting marking the one-year anniversary of the Abraham agreements between Israel and Arab countries, that the Israeli Minister of Defense and the Minister of Economy would pay an official visit to the Kingdom of Morocco in the coming period, without specifying the date.

Earlier, international media reports indicated that among the agreements that will be signed in Morocco during Benny Gantz's visit to Morocco, is the agreement to create a factory for the manufacture of the remotely piloted aircraft known as "Kamikaze”, and it will be in cooperation between Israel and Morocco.
