Denmark and Morocco reaffirmed on Friday in Copenhagen the excellence and strategic nature of their bilateral relations, expressing a shared determination to further strengthen their partnership.
The position was expressed during a meeting between Danish Foreign Minister Lars Løkke Rasmussen and Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccans Abroad, Nasser Bourita.
The two ministers highlighted the historical and strategic nature of relations between the two countries and agreed on an upcoming visit by Rasmussen to Morocco, where they are expected to conclude a strategic partnership focused on strengthening political dialogue.
Rasmussen stressed the importance of the partnership between Denmark and Morocco, describing the Kingdom as a “reliable partner” and a “driver for growth and development” in the region and across Africa.
The new Moroccan-Danish partnership will also seek to boost economic and trade ties in several sectors, including water technologies, renewable energy, pharmaceuticals, agriculture and agri-food, as well as infrastructure.
The two ministers also stressed the importance of Danish investment in Morocco and agreed to further promote contacts between businesses and the private sector through the creation of a Moroccan-Danish business council.
The strategic partnership will also include a migration component aimed at consolidating the two countries’ existing cooperation in this area and further strengthening it through tailored mechanisms and tools.
