Cadi Ayyad University (UCA) in Marrakech has ranked first nationally in the July 2026 edition of the Webometrics university ranking, which assesses higher education institutions based on the visibility of their digital resources, the openness of their scientific output and the impact of their research publications.
UCA also ranked first among universities in the Maghreb region and placed among the top 30 universities in Africa, according to a statement issued by the university.
Globally, the Marrakech-based university ranked 1,420th out of more than 32,000 universities assessed in the latest edition of the ranking.
UCA said the results reflect its continued efforts to strengthen academic and scientific excellence, expand access to its digital resources and open-science initiatives, and increase the international dissemination of its research and knowledge.
The university also highlighted its performance in several other international rankings released in 2026.
According to UCA, it ranked as Morocco’s top university in the UniRank ranking, while placing second nationally in the Center for World University Rankings (CWUR), where it was listed among the top 5.3% of universities worldwide.
UCA also ranked second among Moroccan universities in the QS Sustainability Rankings.
The university said the results reflect the commitment of its various institutions and academic communities to implementing a strategy focused on addressing the increasingly complex challenges of comprehensive, integrated and sustainable development.
