Bourita, Blinken discuss regional issues in Washington

The Moroccan Foreign Minister is on an official visit to Washington, DC, to discuss a number of regional issues with his American counterpart, Anthony Blinken.

In a media statement after receiving Bourita at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday, Blinken said that the Moroccan-American partnership is long-standing and we seek to strengthen it.

Blinken added that there are a number of regional issues that he will discuss with Bourita, such as the issue of normalizing relations between Morocco and Israel, and the issue of appointing the UN envoy, Staffan de Mistura, to resolve the Sahara conflict.

For his part, Bourita expressed his gratitude for his presence in the United States in view of the distinguished relations that they have with Morocco, adding that the time has come to enrich these relations, to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two countries and military cooperation and to confront challenges such as terrorism and climate, noting that this is the vision of King Mohammed VI to strengthen bilateral relations between the two parties.

It should be noted that this is the first official visit of Nasser Bourita to Washington after Joe Biden took office.
