The Arab Parliament on Saturday commended the prominent role played by King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Al-Quds Committee, in defending the Palestinian cause, highlighting the Kingdom of Morocco's continuous efforts through the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency in supporting the resilience of the residents of the Holy City and preserving its legal and historical status.
This came in a resolution adopted during the fifth plenary session of the first legislative term of the Arab Parliament’s fourth chapter, held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States in Cairo, which devoted significant attention to developments in the occupied Palestinian territories.
In its resolution, the Arab Parliament affirmed that the Bayt Mal Al-Quds Agency, affiliated with the Al-Quds Committee chaired by King Mohammed VI, continues to play a key role in safeguarding the identity of Jerusalem and supporting its inhabitants in the face of Israeli occupation practices aimed at Judaizing the city.
The resolution also stressed that a just and comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue is a fundamental prerequisite for achieving security and stability in the Middle East and the world. This, it stated, requires enabling the Palestinian people to attain their legitimate rights, foremost among them the establishment of an independent state with East Jerusalem as its capital.
In the same context, the Arab Parliament renewed its commitment to continuing to mobilize international parliamentary support for the Palestinian cause, coordinating with regional and international parliaments and UN organizations, and activating international legal pathways, including those before the International Court of Justice and the International Criminal Court.
The Parliament also called on the international community to uphold its moral and legal responsibilities regarding the violations suffered by the Palestinian people, emphasizing that a just peace can only be achieved through ending the occupation and realizing justice.
Morocco was represented at the meeting by a delegation from its parliamentary section, comprising Councillor Mohamed Bekkaoui, Chairman of the Economic and Financial Affairs Committee; MP Khadija Hajoubi, Vice-Chairwoman of the Social and Cultural Affairs Committee; MP Mohamed Lahmouch, member of the Foreign Affairs Committee; and MP Mohamed Ayach, member of the Legislative and Human Rights Committee.
