Israel arrests 29 Palestinians in West Bank raids

Israeli forces rounded up 29 Palestinians, including two female students, in overnight raids across the occupied West Bank, according to local media.

The state news agency Wafa said 12 people were detained in raids in the town of Abu Dis, east of Jerusalem, nine in Tulkarm, four in Nablus and three in Jenin.

Two female students were among detainees in Nablus, Wafa said.

Israeli forces also arrested a 17-year old Palestinian in the town of Tekoa in Bethlehem, the news agency reported.

The Israeli army frequently carries out wide-ranging arrest campaigns across the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem on the pretext of searching for "wanted" Palestinians.

Palestinian NGOs estimated that there are around 4,400 Palestinian detainees in Israeli jails.
