French newspaper La Tribune highlighted several promising investment opportunities for French companies in Morocco, particularly in the automotive industry, renewable energy, agrifood, hospitality, maritime activities and aviation.
In an article published Friday, the business weekly recalled the signing of 33 contracts worth €10.7 billion during French President Emmanuel Macron’s visit to Rabat in October 2024, at the invitation of King Mohammed VI.
According to La Tribune, the visit gave new momentum to economic relations between Morocco and France within the framework of their “exceptional partnership.”
The newspaper said this partnership is centered on three key areas: major sporting events, water-related challenges and renewable energy.
It noted that major investment opportunities are emerging in aeronautics, automotive, renewable energy, agritech and the agrifood industry.
La Tribune also highlighted the impact of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and the 2030 World Cup, which will be jointly hosted by Morocco, Spain and Portugal.
The newspaper said the two sporting events have accelerated investment in sports infrastructure, transport, rail and air connectivity, hospitality, tourism, digital technologies and urban planning.
Morocco’s energy policy, based on a mix of solar and wind power as well as green hydrogen, also offers opportunities for investors, according to the French weekly.
It noted that renewable energy is expected to account for more than 50% of Morocco’s installed electricity generation capacity by 2030, compared with more than 46% currently.
The interest of French investors in Morocco was also highlighted during the second edition of the Cap forum, recently held in Montpellier, La Tribune reported.
The newspaper added that France’s Occitanie region and the Montpellier metropolitan area are seeking to strengthen their longstanding ties with Morocco, particularly in the economic field. Montpellier is twinned with Fez.
