The Kingdome of Morocco has inaugurated an honorary consulate in Kolkata, located in the East of India (it is the capital city of the state of West Bengal), to boost the relations with this significant Asian country in many areas, particularly in the economy.
Morocco's ambassador to India, Mohamed Maliki, has inaugurated the honorary consulate in Kolkata in an official ceremony with many Indians officials' presence. Rashmi Showdhary, an Indian businesswoman, was appointed first Morocco's honorary consul to the state of West Bengal.
According to local media in India, Morocco's ambassador, Mohamed Maliki, has said to the press after the inauguration that the opening of this consulate would contribute to expanding the relations between India and Moroccan in various areas, including trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people exchange.
Maliki also has highlighted the attractiveness and business opportunities that Morocco offers and invited the investors from Both countries to benefit from these available opportunities.
Maliki has mentioned that the Moroccan-Indian relations have witnessed a significant positive development after the visit of Morocco's king, Mohamed VI, to India in 2015.
It is worth mentioning that Morocco received last Friday first shipment of the Covid-19 vaccine from India, making Morocco's first African country to receive 2 million doses of Coronavirus vaccine developed by AstraZeneca Oxford University in the serum institute in India.
