Morocco and Egypt reaffirmed the strength of their longstanding bilateral ties on Thursday, with officials from both countries highlighting their shared commitment to expanding economic cooperation and deepening their strategic partnership.
Speaking at a reception hosted by the Egyptian Embassy in Rabat to commemorate the anniversary of Egypt's July 23 Revolution, Morocco's Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Investment, Convergence and the Evaluation of Public Policies, Karim Zidane, described relations between Rabat and Cairo as having reached a "distinguished level" across multiple sectors.
Zidane attributed the steady development of bilateral ties to the historic bonds linking the Moroccan and Egyptian peoples, as well as the continued support of King Mohammed VI and Egyptian President Abdel Fattah Al-Sissi.
He said the relationship reflects a shared historical legacy and ancient civilizations that have helped shape Arab, Islamic and African cultures, adding that both countries have long served as centers of intellectual and cultural exchange promoting moderation, openness, solidarity and dialogue.
For his part, Egypt's Ambassador to Morocco, Ahmed Nihad Abdellatif, stressed the importance of translating the two countries' political ties into stronger economic cooperation.
He said Morocco and Egypt possess complementary economic strengths, accumulated expertise and promising markets, making closer economic integration a strategic necessity capable of stimulating investment, expanding bilateral trade and fostering industrial partnerships.
According to the ambassador, deeper cooperation would also strengthen both countries' access to African, Arab and international markets through a partnership based on complementarity and mutual benefit.
Abdellatif also pointed to the Morocco-Egypt Coordination and Follow-up Commission meeting held in Cairo last April, describing it as a key milestone that accelerated the implementation of the two countries' comprehensive partnership through the signing of agreements covering several strategic sectors. The reception brought together diplomats, political leaders, business representatives, cultural figures, media professionals and members of the Egyptian community living in Morocco, underscoring the broad scope of relations between the two countries
