Joint working groups to foster economic ties between Morocco, Israel

Morocco and Israel have agreed to set up joint working groups, in order to foster the economic ties between the two parties after signing the US Brokered deal of peace to resume the full diplomatic relations between them.

The working groups would meet online during the pandemic, according to a statement issued yesterday of Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Cooperation, and Moroccans Abroad Nasser Bourita, who pointed out that these working groups would work on the conclusion of cooperation agreements in many areas, notably investment, agriculture, water, environment, tourism, science, innovation, and energy.

The two parties are eager to start cooperation in many fields, especially in the economy, where both want to profit from each other.

Morocco considers Israel a valuable market to export agriculture products and receive Israeli tourists in the kingdom, especially more than a million Israeli people with Moroccan origins.

For its part, Israel wants to profit from Morocco's geographical location as a gate to Europe and Africa to launch investments that could have the possibility to be exported to different countries in both continents.

Morocco is considered the best African nation to attract foreign investments in the last years due to its political stability, trained workforce, strategic location, tax exemptions, etc., which Israeli investors do not want to miss.

The work of these Moroccan Israeli working groups is expected to be highlighted during the visit of the Moroccan High-level delegation that is said to be in February, or during the visit of the Israeli delegation le by Ben Shabbat that is also expected in Morocco in February.
