Pohuer Eyes Morocco, Cameroon, Nigeria in New Export Push for Plastic Packaging

Spanish plastics manufacturer Pohuer Creative Injection has placed Morocco at the center of its international growth plans as the company seeks to expand direct exports and launch a new low-cost packaging line for the mass-market cosmetics industry.

Founded in 1980 in the Spanish town of Ibi, Pohuer specializes in plastic containers mainly used in the food sector. Until now, its presence in foreign markets largely depended on Spanish clients distributing its products across Europe. The firm is now shifting toward direct exports, which currently account for around 10 percent of its total sales.

Company CEO Antonio Ruiz said Morocco is among the priority markets identified alongside Cameroon and Nigeria, while Cuba has already been entered through a local partner. He described the Cuban strategy as a long-term investment based on steady growth and stable cooperation with local stakeholders, while the African markets — including Morocco — remain in development and validation phases.

The renewed focus on Morocco reflects the country’s growing consumer goods and cosmetics sectors, which have attracted increasing interest from European manufacturers seeking regional distribution hubs and cost-competitive production ecosystems.

In parallel, Pohuer is preparing to introduce a standardized packaging line for cosmetics, building on customized projects it has developed for the sector since 2020. Ruiz said the move responds to rising demand for industrial, reliable, and competitively priced packaging solutions for high-volume beauty products.

Financially, the company reported revenues of €6.25 million in 2024 with net profits of €320,000, according to official filings in Spain. Performance in 2025 remained at similar levels, while management projects moderate growth in 2026 driven in part by its expansion into new export destinations, including Morocco.
