Morocco has entered the top 20 in the new Global Public Security Index Report 2025-2026, the only African country on the list, according to the index report.
The kingdom scored 76.15 points on the index, which rates countries on a 100-point scale, with higher scores reflecting stronger public security performance.
The report was delivered at a press conference on September 10 in advance of the 2026 Conference of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum in Lianyungang, Jiangsu province, China, the Chinese state news agency ECNS reported.
The index included 62 countries, which made up 82.73 percent of the global population, 75.22 percent of the world's land area, and 87.47 percent of world economic production.
China had the highest ranking of 84.62 points on the index, while the average score of all 62 countries was 72.56, up a little from the previous year, ECNS said.
Authors of the report released specific findings for 20 countries they determined to be relatively high performers in public security governance. Morocco was the only African country to make the list.
The 5th Edition of the Global Public Security Cooperation Forum, a high-level forum for senior law enforcement officials, United Nations and Interpol representatives, as well as diplomats and international experts from around the world, has been launched to discuss new forms of transnational security challenges and threats.
The ranking is the latest in a series of recent international indices on which Morocco has achieved significant scores. The kingdom has jumped 20 places in its ranking in the 2026 Global Peace Index, published by the Institute for Economics and Peace, ranking 65th out of 163 countries, 7th in Africa and 4th in the Arab world. Other rankings have underscored advances in various fields, including cybersecurity and national reputation.
