Mali's armed forces said they are continuing surveillance, search and strike operations against armed groups affiliated with Al-Qaeda and the self-proclaimed Islamic State (ISIS) across the country, announcing a series of airstrikes targeting militant positions in several regions.
In a statement issued Monday, the General Staff of the Armed Forces said the latest operations followed ongoing military actions in the Sandaré area in southwestern Mali.
According to the military, Malian air assets carried out precision strikes on Saturday in the Kouakourou and Tessalit sectors.
The army said a major militant base in Kouakourou was completely destroyed, with all those present at the site killed.
"Initial assessments indicate that no survivors have been identified," the statement said.
In Tessalit, the military said it detected and destroyed a large gathering of individuals, including what it described as suspected senior militant leaders, as well as a weapons depot.
The statement also referred to an operation conducted on Sunday in which troops destroyed a gathering site used by armed groups that housed mining equipment, saying the militants at the location were neutralized.
On the same day, additional precision airstrikes targeted what the army described as military objectives in the Kidal region. It said operations were continuing to assess the impact of those strikes.
The General Staff added that security operations remain ongoing across Mali.
Mali has faced a prolonged security crisis since 2012, with insurgencies involving armed groups linked to Al-Qaeda and ISIS, alongside separatist movements operating mainly in the country's north.
