AFP Confirms Double Suicide Bombing in Algeria, Says Casualty Toll Still Unknown

Agence France-Presse has confirmed that a double suicide bombing took place on Monday in the city of Blida , about 40 kilometers from Algiers (Algeria's capital), citing a Western security source and verified visual evidence.

According to AFP, the source stated “with certainty” that two security incidents occurred on Monday afternoon in Blida, describing them as terrorist attacks based on eyewitness accounts. The same source added that two suicide bombers detonated themselves and were killed.

AFP emphasized that the number of casualties remains unknown at this stage.

The agency reported that it had verified images dated April 14 showing two severely mutilated bodies lying in the street at an intersection in Blida. The visuals, which circulated widely on social media, showed bystanders gathering at the scene while others covered the bodies with blankets under light rain.

Based on the images, AFP noted that the incident took place near several shops and a police station, adding that the exact circumstances surrounding the deaths could not be clearly determined from the available footage.
